This directory contains all blog posts for the Rooted Robotics blog.

How to Add a New Blog Post

  1. Create a new .md file in this directory

    • Use a descriptive filename like new-product-launch.md
    • The filename becomes the URL slug (e.g., /blog/new-product-launch)
  2. Add frontmatter at the top of the file:

title: "Your Blog Post Title"
author: "Author Name"
date: "2024-12-01"
readTime: "3 min read"
excerpt: "A brief summary of your post that appears on the blog listing page..."
image: "/path-to-image.jpg"

  1. Frontmatter Fields:

    • title: The post title (appears in listing and on the post page)
    • author: Author name (usually "Rooted Robotics" or team member name)
    • date: Publication date in YYYY-MM-DD format
    • readTime: Estimated reading time (e.g., "5 min read")
    • excerpt: Short description shown on blog listing (1-2 sentences)
    • image: Path to the featured image (put images in /public/ folder)
    • slug: URL-friendly version of filename (usually same as filename without .md)
  2. Write your content using Markdown:

    • Use # for headings
    • Use **bold** for bold text
    • Use [link text](url) for links
    • Use - or * for bullet lists
    • Use 1. for numbered lists
  3. Save the file - it will automatically appear on the blog!

Images

  1. Add images to the /public/ folder
  2. Reference them in markdown: /image-name.jpg
  3. Featured images (in frontmatter) should be at least 800px wide

Publishing

  • Posts are automatically sorted by date (newest first)
  • The site rebuilds when you commit new posts
  • Changes go live after deploying to Vercel
